Where it is, and getting there
33 Jalan Seladang, Taman Abad, 80250 Johor Bahru — some listings say “Taman Century” for the same building. It is roughly 2 to 3.5 km by road from the JB CIQ / JB Sentral complex depending on where you measure from, so a short Grab ride; the mall’s own Grab page lists three drop-offs and suggests the side entrance.
- By bus — Causeway Link J100 loops JB Sentral → KSL → JB Sentral, maximum fare RM2.10, roughly every 15 minutes, 7 am to 11 pm daily. Cash or contactless card. This is the route people remember as the “KSL shuttle”: it has been a paid public service since 2011, renumbered S1 → F100 → J100. Nothing free runs from CIQ.
- By car — car-park entries on Jalan Seladang and Jalan Rusa, bays in the basement and on Levels 3 to 6. The mall publishes no tariff; third-party listings put it at about RM2 an hour, which we have not been able to confirm officially. GSC’s advice for cinema-goers is to park on Level 3.
- On foot from Space Residency — our unit is about 190 m away, a few minutes’ walk. Space Residency also has an hourly SA1 shuttle to JB Sentral (peak bands roughly 5–10 am and 5–10 pm, public fare RM1.30) that started in January 2026; whether short-stay guests get the residents’ free fare we could not confirm.
What is actually inside
KSL’s owner put the figure at around 500 outlets in its 2025 annual report — 442 shops and about 50 F&B units across roughly 450,000 sq ft. The mall opened in December 2010, and it shows in the best way: it is a working mall, not a showpiece.
| What | Where | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Lotus’s supermarket (the old Tesco) | LG-26, lower ground | 10 am–10 pm daily. The grocery run most people are here for. |
| GSC cinema | L2-128, Level 2 | 8 halls, 1,379 seats. Park on Level 3 and take the lift down. |
| Pharmacies | LG and G | Watsons, Guardian, Caring and Alpro are all in the directory. |
| ATMs | LG and L2 | CIMB, Maybank, RHB. |
| Convenience | LG / G | Family Mart, 365 Mini Mart. |
| Hotel | Same address | KSL Hotel & Resort, linked to the mall, about 900 rooms by the hotel’s own count. |
Food is where it earns its reputation: the directory lists Seoul Garden, Sushi King, Souper Tang, You Kee XO, Meng Meng Roasted Duck, D’Laksa and an Oriental Kopi among a long tail of smaller stalls.
Monday is the night to be here
Every Monday the stretch of Jalan Seladang directly outside the mall closes for the KSL Monday Night Market — the Century Garden pasar malam, listed by the city council at around 278 stalls. The road shuts from mid-afternoon and the market runs from about 5 pm. If your stay includes a Monday, plan dinner around it. Late at night, the supper option on the Jalan Dato Sulaiman strip beside the mall is the fried lok-lok at Da Cheng Lok Lok (284 Jalan Dato Sulaiman), from 6:30 pm until the small hours.
What KSL is not
Honest expectation-setting: there is no luxury floor and no international fast fashion here — no Uniqlo, H&M or Zara in the directory, nothing from the big fashion houses. For those, Mid Valley Southkey is the one. KSL is also genuinely busy on weekends, the layout is maze-like, chains dominate, and seating is scarce. Go on a weekday or a Monday evening if you can, and go for the supermarket, the food and the cinema rather than the brands.
